In just a few hours I will be hopping in my car and heading down to Austin for Texas Style Council (TXSC) and I couldn’t be more excited! I mean for one, I’ll be spending some much needed and way overdue quality time with my bestie, The Frugal Fatshionista! (It’s tough having a bestie that lives THREE hours away y’all.) Second, I will be spending the weekend with over 250 female style/ fashion bloggers and shop owners. Who doesn’t want be surrounded and inspired by so many creative ladies?! I am by no means a style or fashion blogger, I’m barely even a blogger, but I love fashion, personal style and all the bold ladies that put them selves out there. My excitement is off the charts! If you’re in Austin this weekend for TXSC or SXSW and you see a girl with this lovely lady that’s probably me so make sure to say hello! If you won’t be in Austin don’t fret just stop by TXSC blog to read about and check out all of the presenters and awesome participants.

The BF and I took a trip to the mall earlier today and it got me thinking about my shopping habits. When I was younger I had the tendency to go shopping once a week. I know, I know, crazy! Now that I actually have financial responsibilities, not so much. Though I don’t shop nearly as much as I use to some habits are hard to break. I still often find myself buying pieces without think about how they fit into my closet but I’m trying hard to stop that! Now every time I pick up a possible buy I try my best to figure out an outfit with things I already own, so without further ado, I present to have and to want. A place where I think before I shop.

I’ve had a maxi skirt on my want list for some time now and when I saw this look on the cover of Anthropology’s February ’12 catalogue I knew exactly how I wanted to wear it. I don’t know that’ll go with that exact skirt (it is perhaps out of my budget) but I definitely want the look.

Whether it’s a boyfriend, friend or co-worker, I hope you are all celebrating this lovely day with the special people in your lives. I know I can’t wait to give my mom the lovely violets I picked up for her.

Right now I can’t think of a better day or a better thing to share with you than the photo above. It’s from a beautiful project by Lauren Fleishman about the love stories of couples who have been married for at least 50 years. Enjoy!

I often find myself lusting over one of a kind artist made items. Jewelry, clothing, throw pillows, you name it. I lust. Unfortunately the prices tags rarely match my budget so I also often find myself thinking “wonder if I could make that”. Sometimes, if something is out of reach it’s worth a try. Other times not so much.

Lately, I’ve been drooling over this beautiful out of my budget necklace by Iacoli and McAllister. The DIY materials were surprisingly easy to find but I’m still not convinced. What do you think, is the DIY worth a try?

Tis the season for hearts, when I say hearts I mean these tasty little suckers, and all things love. Which makes it a perfect time for me to share one of my truest loves with you, pretty paper products. I gave my heart to beautifully printed paper six long years ago in a printmaking classroom and I haven’t looked back since. As a way to say happy February to you all I’ve gathered up some of my favorite valentine’s.

I hope this helps you find a special something for that special someone.

3. To learn the difference between need and want.*

* The only thing I actually need.

Sometimes I just need to remind myself that there is a difference between need and want. Does that happen to you too?

All my best!

Hey guys, I’m 28!

My birthday was amazing. Full of all sorts of fun things from all of the wonderfully kind people in my life. I would have loved to post my 28th year to-do list before my birthday but alas I got caught up in being me. :)

So here goes #8-28!

  1. Improve my photography technical knowledge. Practice makes prefect and since I haven’t been shooting I haven’t been practicing. I need to revisit the technical fundamentals and build!
  2. Make things. Earlier in the year I promised I’d make five hand made things for five people. Well I haven’t done it yet. I have tons of ideas I just need to get to it!
  3. Spend more time with my sister and brother. This one is pretty straight forward and it will get done.
  4. Call my mom more. again straight forward and very important.
  5. Keep up with my apartment. I am a messy gal. This year I plan on being less messy.
  6. Hang artwork on walls. I’ve acquired some pretty cool stuff and I’m going to showcase it like it deserves.
  7. Communicate better. My BF and BFF could probably elaborate a lot more on this but this one is also for me.
  8. Take a class. I enjoy learning. Can’t say I always have but I do now.
  9. Master an entree made with chicken. I gave myself a challenge about cooking a while ago and this is the next step. (More on my cooking later)
  10. Volunteer somewhere. I think I even found a place already!
  11. Reach out to friends. I’m horrible at staying in touch sometimes and after work I just want a nap. These things combined keep me from catching up and letting people I care about that I care about them. No more my friends.
  12. Budget. I’ve never not made it with my bills or even spending money but if i’m honest I don’t always know whats what.
  13. Buy a new camera lenses. CHECK! Well it was a birthday gift but it still counts in my book :) Thanks BF and BFF. …or maybe a lensbaby is in my future!
  14. Shop smarter. That means making lists and controlling my impulses. Not to hard right.
  15. Recover the memory (photos and stuff) off of my old laptop. About five years ago my laptop died and I’ve been holding on to it because I know I can recover some precious photos from it. This year it’s getting done.
  16. Finish my website. If you’re reading this now then you might have seen my site. Let’s just call it unfinished. :-O
  17. Visit somewhere new. I love to travel but big trips aren’t always a possibility. I’m aiming for somewhere new because that is all I need to be stoked.
  18. Join a photo organization. Participate in said organization.
  19. Learn to drive manual. This one might be stretch because I’ll have convince a certain someone to take a chance on me. Perhaps I’ll practice my powers of pursuance as well.
  20. De-clutter. I keep a lot of stuff. There is always something I’m  ”going” to something with. Well this year I’m doing it right away or letting go.
  21. Organize and print my photos. Instagram blurb book here I come! There are so many easy ways to get prints and I have so many photos that just sit on my computer. It’s time to do something about it and make you all sit through them. :D
Wow, that’s quite a list. I’m very excited to tackle it! So far 28 has been amazing and I plan on keeping it going with this wonderful list.

There are some days when lots of things are floating around your head. On those days images like this one are all you need. I love it!

My birthday is fast approaching. Fast as in, it is on Friday. I’ve been thinking about and
really wanting to write a list of goals/challenges/resolutions for my 28th year. Like most
things I do, I’ve been thinking about it and putting it off. So four days away from my
birthday, writing down my wonderful list of 28 things to work on and do in my 28th
year. (half way through my list I realized what a long post this is so I’m splitting into four
posts) The LIST is in no particular order.

1. Make lists!
I’m off to an early start with this one. My bestie is always telling me that I should make
lists; and how I would manage my time much better and feel less overwhelmed with
things if I did. Therefore, this year I am making lists.
2. Never answer, “What’s new?” or “What have you been up to?” with “nothing” or “you
know, work”. How boring! As I get older, I catch myself doing this more and more. Sure,
I’m not traveling the world every weekend but I am doing things, small as they might be.
Therefore, for the sake of the person asking me and for my own, this year I will make an
effort to share something when asked, “What’s new?”.
3. Take pictures
I have been on a long hiatus and it is time to get back to what makes me happy.
4. Get dressed everyday
When I feel put together I feel better all around.
5. A sassy new hairdo
My hair is long. It has been long for a long time. I don’t know that my sassy new hairdo
means I’m going short but it means I’m trying something different.
6. Figure out a workout routine
I love my yoga classes and I love the feeling of going to the gym yet I can’t seem to
maintain my schedule for more than a couple of weeks. I’m going to work out something doable and stick to it!
7. Work on my writing
I’m enjoying the idea of keeping a blog but my writing has never been great. I read
about a pretty interesting style and grammar book and I think I’ll pick it up and learn something.
#8-28 to come, off I go into my 28th year!

I couldn't find the original source for this but I found it We Heart It.

Just wanted to share some of my latest and favorites from instagram. I really can’t get enough of this app. I’m even planning on making a Blurb Book out of some shots I took on vacation. But for now I’ll share five of my latest shots.

While I was busy taking shots of Prada Marfa a certain BF was testing his balance. I couldn’t help but turn and take a shot.
